DIY Glitter-Encrusted Magnets

October 01, 2013
Confession. I love glitter more than any crafting material ever. If I could, I’d cover everything in glitter... so I did with this DIY! Inspired by my many trips to the flea market, I decided to upcycle some of my favorite finds into magnets encrusted in glitter. These gems are perfect for gift- giving or adding a touch of holiday flair to your kitchen during the holidays!

Materials:

  • Vintage pieces such as brooches, toys, and jewelry
  • Magnets
  • Hot glue
  • Spray glue
  • Painter’s Tape
  • Glitter

Directions

  • 1

Using painter’s tape, mask off a straight line on a vintage toy to add a stripe of glitter. Spritz with spray glue in a well-ventilated area to coat, then pour glitter over the wet glue.

Tip: Pour into a Ziploc® brand container (so you don’t make a glittery mess!).

  • 2 After the glue has dried, remove the tape and glue a magnet onto the back.
  • 3 Remove hardware from the back of earrings to provide a flat surface for the magnet. Coat in glitter again!
  • 4 Put glue on the corners of vintage glass candy. Then coat in glitter! (Did I mention I love glitter?)
