Mini corndogs are a legendary summertime treat. But they can be a real mess to make. So let’s take the mess out of the equation with this simple Ziploc® brand bag corndog hack. That’s right, make your batter right in a Ziploc® brand bag and use it for dipping your dogs before they hit the oil. Less mess and easier clean up! Now, go forth and dip.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½

    cups yellow cornmeal

  • 1 ¼

    cup all-purpose flour

  • 3

    tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2

    tsp baking powder

  • ¾

    tsp kosher salt

  • 4
    large eggs
  • 1 ½

    cup milk

  •
    Peanut oil
  • 8
    hot dogs, sliced in half
  • 16
wooden cocktail picks or bamboo skewers

Directions

  • 1 In a gallon size Ziploc® brand bag, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, eggs, and milk. Seal and knead bag until batter is combined.
  • 2 Pour peanut oil 3 inches deep in a large pot or Dutch oven. Over high heat, bring peanut oil to 360°F.
  • 3 Skewer the hot dogs on the wooden picks. Use the easy open tabs to open your Ziploc® brand bag. Dip hot dogs into the cornmeal batter, covering the entire hot dog. Gently shake off any excess batter and place in the oil. Fry corndogs in batches, about 4 corndogs at a time, until golden; about 5 minutes.
  • 4 Drain on paper towels briefly, then serve.
