DIY Pencil Case

3 Classroom Craft Ideas
Keep small school items organized in one safe place, like this DIY pencil case using quart and gallon size Ziploc® brand slider bags, and some colorful duct tape. For an added punch, use bright colors to make it easy to spot from across the room. DIY Pencil Case

Materials:

  • Quart and gallon size Ziploc® brand slider bags
  • Duct tape (in solid colors and/or patterns)

Directions:

  • 1 Start with a piece of duct tape that is a little more than twice as long as the width of the bag. If using a gallon size Ziploc® brand slider bag, fold the bottom ⅓ of the bag underneath before starting this first step.
  • 2 Wrap and attach the duct tape along the bottom width of the bag, as shown, on the front and back.
  • 3 Repeat this process again, with the next strip of duct tape, and the next, etc, until the bag is covered. If desired, add a contrasting color or pattern with another piece of duct tape.
  • 4 Add pencils, pens, and any other school supplies you want to keep safe. Zip up the top, using the slider closure and enjoy!

Ziploc Art Quilt

3 Classroom Craft Ideas
A Ziploc® brand art quilt is the perfect way to display kids’ art projects in both the home and classroom. This colorful, interchangeable display is so easy to make, you’ll only need a few supplies. No sewing machine required! Ziploc Art Quilt

Materials:

  • 16 gallon size Ziploc® brand bags
  • Duct tape in a solid color
  • Artwork (in vertical format)

Directions:

  • 1 Add a piece of artwork (in a vertical format) to each bag.
  • 2 Seal them, then arrange into a grid format, with 4 rows of 4 bags.
  • 3 Next, add a continuous line of duct tape horizontally across each ‘joint’ in the quilt.
  • 4 Then, add a continuous line of duct tape to each vertical ‘joint’ in the quilt.
  • 5

For the bottom and sides of the quilt, fold over a small portion of the duct tape to the back side (roughly ¼ inch) for a finished look. And for the top of the quilt, run one last horizontal line of duct tape across the top, but do not fold it over to the other side, as you did with the bottom and sides. This will allow you to continue to open and close the bags as often as you’d like.

  • 6 Hang with foam stickies or something similar and switch out artwork as often as you’d like, simply by turning the quilt over, opening the bags, and adding new artwork.

3 Classroom Craft Ideas
What’s a classroom craft without a little (or in some cases a lot of) glue!? To make sure the paper is the only thing getting stuck together, we’ve found this crazy simple craft hack. Parents and teachers, this glue’s for you! Glue in Container

Materials:

  • Medium Ziploc® square container
  • Non-toxic classroom glue
  • Large sponge

Directions:

  • 1 Start by cutting a large sponge down to size, so that it fits into the bottom of the Ziploc® container one press seal container snuggly. Set aside.
  • 2 Next, pour 2-3 ounces of glue in the bottom of the container, so that it covers the bottom.
  • 3 Place the sponge inside the container. Then pour another 2-3 ounces of glue on top of the sponge.
  • 4 Seal with the lid and allow the glue to soak into the sponge overnight.
  • 5 Once the glue has had roughly 24 hours to soak into the sponge, it’s ready to use for all of your gluing needs. Just rub cut pieces of paper onto the glue sponge, flip over, and attach to a larger sheet of paper. Now you have a mess-free glue sponge, perfect for classroom projects.
