Caramelized Apple And Nuts Waffles

The holidays can get pretty hectic, but that doesn’t mean you need to get stressed about breakfast. Whip up waffles ahead of time, freeze or refrigerate them, and wake up to the perfect “canvas” upon which to get creative.   Caramelized Apples and Nuts Waffles is a great way to perk up basic waffles that will have your friends and family asking for more. Now, who’s hungry for some breakfast?

Ingredients

  •   
    waffles
  • 1
    tbsp unsalted butter
  •   

    apples - 1 per serving

  •   

    a pinch of sugar

  •   

    pumpkin spice mix (Learn how to make your own pumpkin spice mix here!)

  •   
    walnuts
  •   
    pecans

Directions

    Start by slicing the apples into thin wedges.

    Melt the butter over medium-low heat.

  • 3 Add the apples and stir to coat, then sprinkle with the sugar and pumpkin spice mix. Keep stirring until the apples turn golden brown.
  • 4 Remove from heat and pour over a waffle.

    Top with walnuts and pecans—and voila! Perfect caramelized apple waffles.

Tip

To start, whip up a batch of waffles. Frozen waffles are fine too! If you make waffles ahead of time, I suggest freezing them in a Ziploc® brand bag. To defrost them, place the frozen waffles on the middle oven rack and bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
