An A-List Lunch
Surprise your kids with a lunchtime recreation of “Red.” He’s easy to make: just top a crunchy red pepper with olives and cream cheese. Finish it off with some hummus and veggies, plus bird beak-shaped goodies (like chips or sliced pineapple).
Materials:
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 tsp cream cheese
- Hummus
- Black olives
- Baby carrots
- Baby corn
- Sugar snap peas
- Pineapple
- Tortilla chips
- Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bags
Directions:
- 1 Cut three slots (two for eyebrows, one for beak) in the upper half of a bell pepper.
- 2 Slice a black olive into 2 rings (for eyes) and use the remaining piece to form Red’s eyebrows.
- 3 Cut the triangle beak from a carrot.
- 4 Fill eyebrow slots with cream cheese and add two dots on the bell pepper skin for eyes. Attach the olive “eyebrows” and the carrot beak.
- 5 Spoon hummus into an Extra Small Ziploc® brand container and place vegetables in Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bags.
- 6 Place beak-shaped pineapple and tortilla chips in additional Ziploc® brand bags.
Place everything in square Ziploc® brand container for mess-free transport.
Everybody Loves Chuck
Send along this banana “Chuck” with tropical trail mix and yogurt topped with “bird seed” (it’s really just sunflower, pumpkin, and flax seeds).
Materials
- Banana
- Yogurt
- Pumpkin seeds
- Sunflower seeds
- Flax seeds
- Dried blueberries
- Dried bananas
- Coconut flakes
- Dried mango
- Cashews
- Chocolate chips
- Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bags
Directions:
- 1 Use a Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bag as inspiration for Chuck’s expression. Then use a small knife to “draw” on banana (don’t worry if the lines seem light, they will darken by snack/lunchtime).
- 2 Combine dried fruits to make trail mix. Combine nuts to make “bird seed”
- 3 Then place in separate Ziploc® brand Angry Bird snack bags
- 4 Spoon yogurt into extra small Ziploc® brand container
Pack everything into a Ziploc® container for a take along snack.
A Meal That Won’t Bomb
This cute lunch box is exploding with good-for you fruits and veggies. Not to mention one of your favorite Angry Birds characters.
Materials:
- Your favorite sandwich toppings
- Avocado
- Carrot
- Black lentils
- Cherry tomatoes
- Cherries
- Pomegranate seeds
- Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bags
Directions:
- 1 Start with ½ of an avocado. Remove the skin with a sharp knife to create Bomb's belly and eyes.
- 2 Make a small hole to insert beak.
- 3 Slice a small carrot piece for the beak and cut eyebrows from the red bell pepper, attach both. Pipe cream cheese eyes using a Ziploc® brand bag with small hole in one corner. Attach black lentils or avocado skin pieces for pupils.
- 4 Turn the avocado over and make a cross-hatch pattern so it's easier to eat (send along a spoon to scoop it out at lunchtime).
- 5 Cut your favorite sandwich into squares and assemble in a Ziploc® brand container.
- 6 Place pomegranate seeds and cherries into a “Bomb” themed Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bag.
This Little Piggy Went To Lunch
Bad Piggies turn deliciously good in this fruit and cheese snack box. Extra fun when you add a helmet, mustache or crown.
Materials:
- Green apple
- Carrot
- Cheddar cheese (sliced)
- Kiwi
- Cucumber
- Almonds
- Mini chocolate chips or dried blueberries
- Coconut flakes
- Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bags
Directions:
- 1 Cut a green apple in half and carefully remove the skin to form eyes, using chocolate chips for pupils. Draw a circle between the pig's eyes and carve out two holes inside of the circle to make a nose. Add a mouth at the bottom of the apple. Use coconut flakes to add small teeth.
- 2 Cut two holes on top left-hand side of apple. Press almonds into the holes to make ears.
- 3 Make crowns from cheddar cheese, mustaches from a carrot, and helmets from kiwi skin. Add to Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bags for piggy “accessories”.
- 4 Slice a cucumber into sticks to form a little house to keep the apple in place.
- 5 Bonus: Place unused fruits and veggies into a Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bag so that you can make an “angry” salad later on!
A Happy Nest
If your kid eats like a bird, they might love this adorable lunch. This cute and colorful nest is filled with egg-shaped snacks.
Materials:
- Hardboiled egg
- Pumpkin seeds
- Sunflower seeds
- Almonds
- Green grapes
- Grape tomatoes
- Mini mozzarella balls
- Pretzel sticks
- Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bags
Directions:
- 1 Use a knife to carve out space in a hard-boiled egg for a bird beak, eyes, and eyebrows.
- 2 Press half of an almond into the egg to create the beak. Use sunflower seeds for eyes, coconut for eyelashes, and pumpkin seeds for hair.
- 3 Snap pretzel sticks into small pieces and add to a muffin cup for a nest. Top with skinless almonds for eggs.
- 4 Add mozzarella balls and grapes to Ziploc® brand Angry Birds bags.
- 5 Place the hard-boiled egg bird into a Ziploc® container, add the h mozzarella and grapes, and place the nest. Fill the remaining space tightly with grape tomato “eggs” so everything stays put.
